Home and garden through the year – a simple seasonal plan
Most home and garden chores come back every year. A simple plan makes it easier to get help in time rather than at the last minute.

Spring
- Rake leaves and winter debris from the lawn and beds.
- Sweep grit from paths and the patio.
- Check and clean garden furniture for the season.
- Weed early, before weeds set seed.
Summer
- Mow often rather than rarely and short.
- Water in the morning or evening.
- Trim hedges after nesting season – in Sweden people usually wait until after Midsummer.
- Plan garden-waste removal before the pile grows.
Autumn
- Rake leaves and compost or remove them.
- Store or cover garden furniture.
- Clear gutters from ground level or a stable ladder with someone holding it – roof work does not belong here.
- Drain and store hoses before the frost.
Winter
- Have a plan for clearing snow from paths and the drive.
- Grit icy steps.
- Use the time to clear out sheds and garages before spring.
Describe the garden task clearly
Give the rough area, what needs doing and whether tools are available. Say whether garden waste should be left, gathered or removed. Tree felling, chainsaw work at height and roof work are not included on POFFIX.
