How to set a fair price – without guessing

We publish no invented market prices. But you can reason your way to a price that is fair to both you and the provider.

Start with time, not the total

The easiest way to a fair price is to estimate how long the task takes and how many people it needs. Two people for three hours is a completely different job from one person for an hour – even if it is the “same” sofa.

Think about what is included

  • Travel to and from the location.
  • Tools, a vehicle or a trailer the provider brings.
  • Fees such as recycling charges, if the provider drops off materials.
  • VAT – prices on POFFIX are always shown including VAT.

Three ways to start on POFFIX

You can set your own price, get help with a price level where approved pricing rules exist for the category, or be open to offers with an optional maximum budget. Where no approved rules exist we show no recommended range – better no number than an invented one.

However you start, what you enter is a starting point. The price only becomes final when you and the provider have approved exactly the same price offer.

Cheapest is not always best

A very low price can mean the provider has misunderstood the task. Read what the offer includes and ask in the chat if anything is unclear. Compare scope, not just the total.

If you get a counter-offer

A counter-offer does not mean something is wrong – it often means the provider read the task carefully. Ask what pushed the price up; sometimes providing materials yourself or carrying the lighter items is enough to agree.
