Get your car ready to sell: cleaning and photos
The first impression in a car listing is the photos. With some cleaning and the right angles you give buyers an honest, clear picture.

Cleaning that shows
- Empty the car completely – glovebox, door pockets, boot.
- Vacuum seats, mats and the boot.
- Wipe the dashboard, steering wheel and door panels.
- Wash the outside at a washing bay or car wash; do not wash the car on the street.
Where to take the photos
Pick a calm spot with even light – an overcast day or early evening is often best. Avoid other cars, neighbours’ number plates or houses with visible addresses in shot.
Angles buyers look for
- Front three-quarter and rear three-quarter.
- Both sides.
- Driver’s seat, back seat and boot.
- Odometer with the ignition on.
- Tyres and any damage up close.
Be honest about condition
Photograph scratches, dents and wear. It builds trust and reduces discussion at the viewing. Gather the service book and receipts if you have them.
What POFFIX can and cannot help with
Cleaning, photography and help with the listing work as tasks. Driving your car, repairs and technical work are not included on POFFIX.
